Waving Cat Color Meaning

Depending on the color, the cats bring their owners safety (blue), prosperity (gold), love (pink), or health (green). Miyu artistically combines the talisman's characteristics with the tea ceremony deeply rooted in Japanese culture. With a raised paw, pointy ears, coins, and other accessories, Maneki Neko has brought good luck and prosperity for centuries. Although the iconic statues have different origin stories, they all begin in Japan.

Origin Story of the Japanese Cat

The motif is now deeply embedded in pop culture. The boom of Japanese culture during the "Cool Japan" era of the 1980s and 90s - alongside the second wave of Chinese immigration to the U.S. - further solidified Maneki Neko in mainstream culture.
